Blockchain startup IndieSquare Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Shibuya, Tokyo; CEO: Yuta Hoshino) will begin distributing SBTs (Soul Bound Tokens) on June 23 as supporter membership credentials for House of Representatives member Masaaki Taira, chair of the Liberal Democratic Party’s Web3 project team. Taira is conducting a proof of concept using eKYC for LDP membership applications. People who complete their application will be eligible to receive an SBT featuring his Taira-kun character. Issuing SBTs as credentials for a Diet member’s own supporters is described as a first in Japan.
The initiative is a collaboration between IndieSquare and the Blockchain Strategic Policy Institute, based in Chiyoda, Tokyo.
